Prof. Irvin D.T. Mpofu

Animal nutritionist, author and academic leader.

Prof. Mpofu has spent more than three decades working in animal nutrition, feed biotechnology and livestock production science across Zimbabwe, Namibia, Rwanda and South Africa. His work moves between the lecture hall, the laboratory and the feed mill floor — teaching, peer reviewing for international journals, formulating rations, and advising on the setup and feasibility of stockfeed factories.

He holds a PhD in Animal Nutrition from the University of Pretoria and an MBA from the University of Zimbabwe, alongside an MSc and BSc (Hons) in Animal Science. He has served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Administration at Chinhoyi University of Technology, founding Dean of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Rwanda's Nyagatare campus, Head of Animal Science at the University of Namibia, and Professor of Animal Nutrition at the University of Zimbabwe.

His published record runs to over eighty items — research papers, book chapters, training manuals and consultancy reports — much of it on feed resources, diet formulation and livestock productivity in African farming systems.

About IDTSOFT

IDTSOFT grew out of a problem Prof. Mpofu kept meeting in practice: farmers and feed mills needing rations that hit their nutritional targets without wrecking the margin. It automates the Pearson Square — the same method taught in his textbooks — and extends it to multi-ingredient mixes, handling the dry matter and as-fed conversions that are easy to get wrong by hand.

It is built for commercial farmers, veterinarians, feed mill operators, researchers and lecturers who need a balanced ration in minutes rather than an afternoon.
